Grants

 

The National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children’s Foundation awards grants to children of law enforcement and firefighting personnel who were lost in the line of duty. The Foundation also award grants to families of law enforcement or firefighting person who are enduring tragic circumstances and suffering from financial hardship.

 

The Grant

The amount of the grant varies and depends on the needs of the family/candidate and the current financial state of the family/candidate.

 

Who is Eligible

Applicants must be a child of a law enforcement agent/officer or firefighter who lost his/her life in the line of duty. Law Enforcement agent and firefighter personnel families are also eligible when there is an extreme need due to tragic circumstances. Candidates are required to demonstrate financial need.

 

Applicants will be judged by a Grants Committee. Grants Committee members will not participate in discussions and will not be involved in decisions regarding applicants to whom they are related. Applicants must reside in the United States.

 

 

Application Procedure

 

Each candidate must submit the following two items:

 

  1. Completed Grant application form (get here).
  2. Documentation verifying connection to law enforcement and firefighter's descent, and that the deceased officer or firefighter had dependents (see Attachment A).
  3. Written notification confirming a line of duty death occurred from the chief executive officer of the involved agency.

Decisions of the judges are final. NLEAFCF reserves the right to withhold grants in any category in the absence of qualified applicants.

 

Applications are accepted and reviewed year round.

Mission Statement

The National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children's Foundation (NLEAFCF) is dedicated to helping children of law enforcement and firefighting personnel. The Foundation provides financial support to both children who have lost a parent in the line of duty as well as families enduring significant financial hardships due to tragic circumstances. NLEAFCF also supports, promotes, and facilitates educational activities and programs created and operated by law enforcement and firefighting organizations whose purpose is to benefit children or the community at large.
